*drool* Banana, toffee cupcakes

This was a quick fix for a cupcake craving. Simple banana cake covered in a toffee buttercream (an entire bottle of toffee!!!). I wished I had caramelised nuts to sprinkle on top but unfortumately I had to settle with chocolate sprinkles. My next misson is to do a caramel cake with Peanut butter icing, i will keep you updated on that.

Mini Rainbows

These are a mini version of the rainbow cake that I have on the site. They took so long, it almost broke my heart but was well worth it in the end.

It is a simple vanilla cake mixture that I have added colouring too; I would like to try it with four different flavours sometime in the future.

I iced them with a mixture of white choc cheese cake icing and vanilla buttercream and used crazy colours.

Banana, Carmel and pecan cake

No need to elaborate the tilte reveals all. This is a banana cake that I  drizzled home made caramel over and covered with pecan nuts. This was a very yummy combination and plan on making a lot more of it.

Can anyone say Halloween treat??!?!

Mint chocolate mission

Ollooo, i mean hello all.

i know it has been a while since our last entry but a lot of baking has taken place. One cake I am particularly excites to talk about is my mint aero chocolate giant cupcake. Oh yes, you heard right. The cake is a light and fluffy mint flavoured and green tinged cake. It is full of creamy chocolate filling and frosted with the same chocolate frosting and also a green mint frosting. I decorated it with stars and pieces of mint aero. It was for a friend's birthday so I also made a chocolate plaque and wrote her name on it.

I have also made this flavour in normal cupcakes, it is particularily fun as it is spooky looking with the green colouring. It would make a good cake for halloween or a birthday party.

Taste the Rainbow

RAINBOW

I did it!!! For ages I have wanted to make the rainbow cake and finally this weekend I did just that. 6 layers of colourful goodness. And typical me, I used liquid food colouring, it turned out surprisingly well. : ) Although I did detect an increased level of energy and hysteria after the children had consumed it. This cake just cheered everyone up on a miserable day!!

Goodbye cake!

One of the girls I work with is off to greener pastures; so to send her on her way I made her a big pink cupcakes. This giant cupcake mould is paying for itself. It is just a classic vanilla sponge with a gooey caramel centre and white chocolate cheesecake icing.

A funny story about the flowers, the shop where I would usually get them was closed by the time I finished work so I went to the closest Avoca cafe and offered to pay them a lot of money for some flowers. However the girls were absolutely saintly and gave them to me free of charge.

Cupcakes for the sake of cupcakes

When I make a normal batch of cupcakes I always hide a few from my brothers and bring them into the few girls I work with in the shop. One day I was caught red handed by everyone else and they demanded I brink them in cupcakes also.
I have been toying around with my mint aero cupcake idea, (which has been very successful let me tell you) and I decided to make a huge batch of mint aero and vanilla cupcakes for all of the people I work with. 56 CUPCAKES, transporting them was a nightmare.

I actually got the peppermint essence from Avoca, it smells soooo yummy when you open the bottle. My fingers were very green after using the colouring, yet another reason i really need to invest in gel food colouring.
This picture makes me drool, i can promise you not a single drop of this icing was wasted.

Starry 15!

This was actually one I made for my brothers 15th birthday party. This was a very last minute cake. I am in love with my giant cupcake mould despite it's misgivings. I decided to do the icing a crazy colour to keep it fun and he is fond of bright, bold colours and ended up using an entire bottle of blue food colouring! Going to invest in some gel colouring!

This is a chocolate cake full of home-made caramel (something which I am very proud of). My brother is new cheesecake fan; so I made the icing White chocolate cream cheese icing. the cake went down a treat with the family and then he took it into school and it went down a treat with his teachers and friends.

Hello

We are two Pharmacology (nearly) graduates; who are obsessed with cakes and anything sweet and cute. Now that we are finished college, for the time being at least, we have decided to invest in this sugar fueled hobby and make cakes/cupcakes/desserts to order!! Plus we will post pictures to make you drool and update with any wonderful new recipes and ideas that we stumble upon.
